Bowmer & Kirkland
Customer: Bowmer & Kirkland
Location: Nottingham
Requirement: Independent construction group Bowmer & Kirkland (B&K) needed to procure new locker rooms on behalf of its client, Boots plc. The retail giant needed the extra facilities to cater for 100 new members of staff at its head office in Nottingham.
Because the buildings had to be located within six metres of the existing factory, it was essential that they were fire rated to comply with insurance requirements.
Solution: B&K purchased two Portakabin FireSafe buildings on behalf of Boots plc. These innovative, attractive buildings comply with the Joint Code of Practice on the Protection from Fire on Construction Sites and have been tested and certified by Warrington Fire Research Centre.
The interior of the buildings is spacious and the steel-lined walls allow noticeboards and fire extinguishers to be magnetically fixed to the wall without causing any damage.
Adam Smith, Site Services General Manager at B & K, says: "I had been to all the development meetings for the new Portakabin FireSafe building, so I'd seen the amount of effort that went into producing exactly the right product. Portakabin FireSafe buildings offer everything you could possibly want from a fire-rated building.
"It can be easy for buildings of this nature to become so over-run with security features that they become much less aesthetically pleasing, but that certainly isn't the case with Portakabin FireSafe.
"From placing our initial order to taking delivery of the buildings, which only took four weeks, we have all been extremely impressed with the service from Portakabin."
